The HOSHIDOU Path: five steps

Read your own chart, compare it with today's sky, plan your year, then write it down and check back. Five steps for working with astrology, and how far the free plan takes you.

You set the sky you were born under next to today’s sky, and use the difference to make your own decisions. The HOSHIDOU Path turns that practice into five steps.

The five steps

Try one full year

The five steps make one loop from birthday to birthday. The morning check is Step 2. Each month’s New Moon and Full Moon are Steps 3 and 5. The weeks around your birthday are Step 4, and a second look at Step 1. You don’t need to learn all of it before you begin. For the first month, Steps 1 and 2 are enough.

  • Confirm your Moon sign on the Single Wheel (Step 1)
  • Check today’s Moon sign and void-of-course time in the ephemeris (Step 2)
  • Put the New Moon and Full Moon dates in your phone’s calendar, ready for Step 3

Step 2: Pay attention to today’s skyHoshiyomi (Free)
Step 3: Compare your birth chart with the sky nowHoshiyomi (Free)
Step 4: Make a reading of your yearHoshigatari (Solar Return)
Step 5: Write it down and check it laterA notebook is free. In the app, Today’s reflection is Hoshigatari; notes and saved charts are Hoshimichibiki

During the beta, every Hoshigatari and Hoshimichibiki feature is free to use. What each plan includes lays out the differences.

You decide the method

The practices in this section come from astrology’s long tradition and from more recent practice. Whether you use them is up to you. If avoiding sign-ups during void-of-course time, or picking one small thing at the New Moon, doesn’t suit you, drop it. What matters is that you write down what you decided and check it later.

First step

Sign up and enter your birth details, then find your Moon sign on the Single Wheel. That is Step 1.

If you want more material, a Star Scroll (a written report built from the sky of your birth) adds to what you have for Step 1.
